Have you seen this sign? It is located on West Proctor Road in Rutland Town.
According to the Joseph Wheeler book, in the year of 1958 there was 15 signs with signposts placed at intersections with present highways. Later in 1959, seven towns paid for additional markers and 40 other signs were placed throughout the woods and fields where the route would be easily lost. That was done to coincide with the 350th Champlain Celebration.
Have you recently seen any of the markers? If you have seen one, and it is NOT one of the ones shown below, PLEASE tell us about its location. We fear most have been lost and it would help us greatly to learn of the original locations.
